Ghanaians with Ghana Card issues can now visit NIA Regional/District Offices beginning August 8 - NIA boss.

Ghanaians who have problems with their Ghana Cards can now breathe a sigh of relief because, as of Monday, August 8, 2022, they will no longer have to go to the National Identification Authority (NIA) Headquarters or travel from far away to Accra to have their problems resolved.

In an interview with Peace FM's "Kokrokoo," Professor Ken Agyeman Attafuah, Executive Secretary of the NIA, said that anyone who wants to correct or replace his Ghana Card data can go to any Regional or District office in the country.

According to him, this is to ensure that people do not have to travel far or come to the Greater Accra Region before they can resolve any issues with their Ghana Cards.

"From this Monday, 8th of August, 2022, that issue of replacing your card or doing a correction on your card can be done at any and every Regional or district office of NIA. It won't be necessary for you go to headquarters or the El-Wak Sports Stadium before you do an update or correction of your date of birth or name or some mistake on your card or if your card is missing and you want to do a new one, you can do it at a Regional or district office." he said.

He advised those who had data errors to pay GHC 30 for the issuance of a new Ghana Card.

Prof. Ken Attafuah praised the Ghana Card, emphasizing that the Authority has successfully linked it with all universal banks in the country, allowing people who have updated their bank information with their cards to access their accounts with or without sending the Ghana Card to the bank.

This, he noted, is true for government institutions such as SSNIT, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and the Passport Office, among others.

"We've created a world-class system that is operational...

We've created a dependable, robust, and comprehensive data verification platform that is currently operational. There can be verification even if the physical Ghana Card is not present."

The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker drivers and related organizations have called off their strike.

After reaching an agreement with the government on their concerns, the various groups called off the strike action today, Friday, August 5, 2022.

The drivers went on strike in response to what they saw as unfair treatment by the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited and the National Petroleum Authority.

The drivers also expressed concerns about the seals and tracking devices used to ensure the integrity of the fuel during the transportation process, as well as the ongoing ban on new LPG stations since 2017.

They claimed that the tracker made them sick and killed some of their members, but this has yet to be proven.

According to a statement issued by the tanker driver unions, the agreement was reached following a meeting with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the Ministry of Energy following Cabinet's decision to lift the ban on the construction of stranded LPG filling stations.

"A meeting between the Service Provider, NPA, and our associations is scheduled for Monday, August 8, 2022." "We would like to thank the good people of Ghana for their understanding," the unions said in a statement.
