The defender has refuted rumors that a disagreement between Maguire and Ronaldo over the Manchester United captaincy has arisen by praising the forward. 

Despite rumours from the previous season claiming that a rift had grown between the two Manchester United teammates, Harry Maguire has praised Cristiano Ronaldo. 

As United's season crumbled, the top attacker was rumored to be dissatisfied with Maguire's position as club captain.

Both players played a significant role in the Red Devils' lowest-ever Premier League point total, which prevented them from qualifying for the Champions League. 

Despite Maguire having a difficult season on the field, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his acting successor Ralf Rangnick decided to maintain him as their captain. Ronaldo would have been the front-runner to succeed him if either had decided to switch.
