Okudzeto Ablakwa, an 8-year-old, receives a full scholarship and GHc3k.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has awarded a full scholarship to an eight-year-old class three student who won the regional reading competition that just ended.

Sameilia Mekporsigbe, a Battor D/A Primary School class 3 student, was named the overall best student at the circuit, district, and regional levels.

She beat out 17 other district champions to win the USAID Learning Initiative's 2022 Volta Regional Competition. Sameilia, a phenomenal athlete, will represent the Volta Region at the national level.

The MP, overcome with emotion, welcomed the student and her delegation, led by North Tongu Director of Education Isabella Regina Ayimey.

Ablakwa, who was overjoyed, added Sameilia Mekporsigbe to his scholarship program and gave her GHS3000 to help her prepare for the national reading competition in Accra.

"I was overjoyed to be greeted by a triumphant delegation led by North Tongu Director of Education, Isabella Regina Ayimey, who presented me with the phenomenal Sameilia Mekporsigbe." "I was delighted to donate a Samsung Tablet with free internet access and a diverse collection of e-reading collections to Sameilia." "She has also been accepted into the MP's scholarship program for additional academic assistance until she graduates from the University," the lawmaker wrote in a Facebook post.

According to the former Deputy Education Minister under the former NDC administration, the pupil told him she wanted to be a judge, prompting him to take action to ensure her dream is realized.

He assured her of the entire North Tongu constituency's support as she prepares to represent the Volta Region at the national level.

The MP also wished the brilliant student luck and promised her "bigger deserving surprises."

?According to Professor Ken Attafuah, Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), applicants for the Ghana Card can fill out a registration form online.

According to him, the online platform was created to make the registration process easier, but it is limited, so the applicant will still need to visit Regional or District offices or the NIA headquarters to complete the registration process.

"To a point, you can do it online. We need to collect your biometrics. So, you can go online, book an appointment, and fill out a form - basic information - but a lot of it is very technical. It is coded "He stated.

In an interview on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Prof. Attafuah recounted reasons why the registration cannot be done solely online.

He explained the Ghana Card registration demands biometric authentication which cannot be done via online application.

"It's a little complicated, but the law requires us to be precise. Then there's biometrics; with biometrics, we have to capture your ten figures. There is a method for doing this, but you cannot use your phone to take a picture of your fingers for us. We have a technology for taking your eyes that you can't snap and send to us because you took a selfie." In terms of your face, the system is designed so that your two ears are visible because your ears are your biometrics. Your ears are distinct from one another, as are the ears of every other human being. We want to capture that as well, so it's important that you come to us in person to be registered by capturing those biometrics."

He also stated that before a registered person can receive his or her Ghana Card, he or she must be biometrically verified once more, which is also impossible to do online.

"The third reason you can't apply online is that after you've completed all of this, we need you to authorize us before we print the card or thumbprint. And after you finish, we must finally issue the card to you biometrically, and if it matches, we hand it to you "He was emphatic.
