Manchester United has agreed in principle a transfer fee with Juventus to sign Adrien Rabiot.
The 27-year-old has been a surprise target for the Red Devils after they failed to land a deal for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong down the line.
The France international is out of favor in Turin and is available at the Old Lady with 12 months remaining on his contract.
While United are not yet desperate to sign De Jong, they are wary of ending the window without midfield reinforcements.
And the Manchester Evening News says a deal has been agreed with Juventus to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.
However, the performer has yet to agree on personal terms for a move to the Theater of Dreams, and the report says his mother - who is Rabiot's agent - "stumbled" on the deal. Rabiot is likely to seek a pay raise at Juventus to join United as he fears it will be his last big deal.
United have been keeping tabs on Rabiot for a long time and were hoping to secure a deal for the Frenchman in 2019, only to see their failure to qualify for the Champions League ruin their chances.
Since then, Rabiot's stock has slumped despite his improved form for Juventus last season.
Véronique, Rabiot's mother, is known for her fiery temper and once confronted Laurent Blanc in the Paris Saint-Germain stadium parking lot to question her decision.
Manchester United was largely exploited at the weekend by Brighton after they were beaten by 2 goals to one at Old Trafford. Erik Ten Hag, although apologized to the fans after the loss, he has to sign some key players to boost the current squad before their second game. United is yet to deal with the Ronaldo situation as the Portuguese is ready to leave the club because of the Champions League football.
