In the long run, Manchester United might gain from passing up on Benjamin Sesko.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, may eventually gain from missing out on Benjamin Sesko, a transfer target who reportedly decided to join RB Leipzig in 2023. The Red Devils were one of many teams interested in the teenager, but his transfer to the Bundesliga's top team may increase their chances of securing Christopher Nkunku, a highly sought-after frontman.

Sesko, 19, is expected to have a huge season after impressing in a preseason victory over Liverpool and getting off to a solid start in the Austrian Bundesliga. The Slovenian forward scored the game-winning goal against the Reds by stunning James Milner with a superb skill move and capping off an impressive attack.

His agent has had a busy few weeks with meetings at Chelsea and Manchester United, but it appears that RB Leipzig has delivered the decisive blow. Sesko will move to the Bundesliga in a year as a result of RB Salzburg's refusal to sell this summer.

United supporters will be disappointed about missing out, but the action may increase their prospects of signing Nkunku in January or next summer.

Leipzig should have plenty of attacking talent after Sesko's potential arrival, especially with Timo Werner set to have a physical on Tuesday after agreeing to a discounted transfer from Chelsea. Nkunku contributed to 33 goals in 34 Bundesliga games last season, thus parting ways with him may not be out of the question.

When a Ł50.4 million release clause goes into effect next summer, strong competition for the Frenchman's signing is predicted, although United might gain by making their approach in January. Leipzig might be persuaded to part ways with the 24-year-old and let the Red Devils beat the rush if Ten Hag and company are prepared to pay a higher sum.

Werner's chances of winning the World Cup could improve if he regains his old goal-scoring form in an effort to gain momentum. Leipzig's managers may be interested in selling Nkunku early because they will be anticipating Sesko's arrival in a few months.

The former Paris Saint-Germain kid is being pursued by Chelsea and a number of other elite teams, so United may find it crucial to raise some additional funds. Nkunku's last season was by far his greatest in front of goal, surpassing his previous high of seven goals across all competitions with 35.

Despite the fact that United may think they have a good chance given Leipzig's increased attacking prowess, Nkunku has already stated a strong preference for PSG.

He stated earlier this year, "Paris, I've always said it, is my home, my heart club. I never shut any doors. The possibilities in football are endless. Being coveted by the top clubs in the world is flattering.

"However, the fact that Leipzig is making every effort to keep me is also nice. June has here, and my attention is on this meeting [with the French national team].
