Real Madrid wins the Super Cup huge kudos to Alaba and Benzema

Eintracht Frankfurt seemed to have no responses for Ancelotti's men in Helsinki

As part of a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022 UEFA Super Cup, David Alaba and Karim Benzema scored goals for Real Madrid on Wednesday night, giving them their first trophy of the year.

The same starting lineup that Carlo Ancelotti used to defeat Liverpool in the Champions League final back in May was used in Helsinki, and it worked. Los Blancos looked superior to their German opponents.

Before the first half ended, Alaba's goal appeared to calm Madrid's jitters, which Frankfurt had managed to stifle up until that point.

However, Ancelotti's team improved after the break, and Benzema's goal in the 65th minute put an end to any slim aspirations the German team may have had.

During the early exchanges, Frankfurt found it difficult to make much progress inside the Real Madrid half, but it was the Germans who created the game's first genuine opportunity.

Thibault Courtois showed to be up to the task by stopping Daichi Kamada's low strike after being passed in behind the Los Blancos defense.

After a fantastic run down the right by Federico Valverde, Madrid answered shortly after. His cross was intercepted by Benzema, who passed it to an unmarked Vinicius, but Tuta was able to clear the ball off the line.

In the 37th minute, Alaba took advantage of sloppy Frankfurt defending from a corner to give Madrid their first offensive goal. The soaring header from Benzema appeared destined to be out of play. But Kevin Trapp arrived, straying off the path.

Alaba made no mistakes in shooting into the open goal after Casemiro cushioned the ball into his path.

The Brazilian scurried down the left before turning around and putting the ball in Benzema's path, who shot beyond Trapp's body to give Madrid the lead.

After that, Frankfurt was unable to respond as the minutes passed. Meanwhile, Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger entered the game in the 85th and made a winning debut for Real Madrid.

2 - Real Madrid: Courtois; Carvajal; Militao; Alaba; Mendy; Casemiro; Kroos; Modric; Tchouameni; Rodrygo; Fede Valverde; Vinicius; Ceballos; and Benzema.

Trapp, Touré (Lucas Alario, m.70), Tuta, N'Dicka, Knauff, Rode (Gotze, m.58), Sow, Kamada, Lenz, Lindström (Kolo Muani, 58), and Borré scored the only goals against Eintracht.
