Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, has emphasized the significance of evaluating the "character" of possible new recruits in order to determine what type of impact they will have on the team.
Since the conclusion of the previous campaign, which turned out to be the club's poorest in the Premier League era with a record-low points total, United has found themselves in need of a reset.
Numerous players have left the team in recent months, but just Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez have been brought in so far. In addition, United have been in contact with Adrien Rabiot and continue to be interested in Frenkie de Jong, who is well-known to Ten Hag.
Before the summer transfer window ends and the team is locked in until January, United has just under three weeks to complete the moves they want to.
But Ten Hag has emphasized the reasons it is essential to avoid making hasty decisions before thoroughly evaluating the nature of their targets.
"You analyze your squad, of course.
What are the strengths, what are the weaknesses, and how can we become better? Who are the competitors in the market?" He revealed to BBC Football Focus.
"But it's also crucial that you are aware of the personalities of both your present squad and the new players you add—their personalities and behavioural tendencies. Moreover, what impact—if any—they will have on the dressing room."
United were taken off guard when they hosted Brighton in their first Premier League game of the new season on Sunday, despite some early promise in preseason. When the Red Devils take on Brentford on Saturday night, they will have a chance to start making things right.
The 10-player shortlist for the 2022 Kopa Trophy has been announced by France Football and include Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Gavi, and Eduardo Camavinga.
The Kopa Trophy, which recognizes the top player under the age of 21, was established in 2018 as a part of an enlarged Ballon d'Or awards program.
The inaugural Kopa Trophy winner was Kylian Mbappe, and Pedri won it in 2021.
