Wesley Fofana of Leicester appears to have been acquired by CHELSEA after all.
Wesley Fofana and Chelsea have reached a personal agreement, although rumours indicate that Leicester City is considering selling its star center-back. The Blues have made a concerted effort to sign the 21-year-old after missing out on a number of defensive targets. After weeks of pushing, they finally seem to have made progress.
The Foxes have already turned down two offers from Thomas Tuchel's team for Fofana, and Brendan Rodgers is still adamant that the Frenchman is not for sale. When questioned about the defender's future on Thursday, Leicester's manager acknowledged that two offers had been made, but he also emphasized that they fell far short of what the East Midlands club was willing to pay for the center back, who had just signed a five-year contract at the King Power in March.
While openly denying rumors that Fofana would be moving to Stamford Bridge shortly, it appears that behind the scenes, the Blues are making progress. According to FootMercato, Chelsea and Fofana have actually reached a personal agreement, and it is thought that The defender's potential move from Leicester is now possible.
According to the French publication, the Foxes have informed Chelsea that Fofana can depart if their asking price is reached. The center-back would become the most expensive defender in history if Leicester were to acquire him, surpassing the price Manchester United paid the Foxes for Harry Maguire in 2019. Leicester are reportedly holding out for upwards of £80 million for the defender.

It is believed that during the weekend, the two clubs' conversations will get more serious. The revelation comes shortly after Chelsea boss Tuchel turned down inquiries about Fofana at his Friday press conference.
When questioned about the Leicester star, Tuchel cut the reporter's query short by saying, "We can shorten this, I will not answer." No matter how insightful your question is, I won't respond.

The Blues manager did, however, acknowledge that, following the addition of Kalidou Koulibaly, he remained committed to bringing in another central defender before the transfer window closed. We might use one extra center defender, he continued. In light of the statistics and the fact that we now use a back three,
"I acknowledge that the three males in the back have a little distinct profile. We could use another central defender since Cucurella is suitable in some situations but Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta) is more of a full-back than a central defender. Watch what transpires.
