North of 8,000 seedlings raised during the current year's Green Ghana Day project have been found at a decline dump site close to the Offin Forest Reserve at Bosofuor in the Asante Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Officials of the Forest Services Division of the Forestry Commission at Asante Mampong during their everyday schedule saw a KIA truck moving out of the decline dump site, however they later found the seedlings unloaded there.
Endeavors to follow the vehicle were not fruitful.
Out of the 8,011 seedlings found at the landfill site, 5,891 seedlings were requested as live while 2,120 seedlings were dead after an orchestrating exercise as indicated by the Officials of the Forest Service Division of the Forestry Commission at Asante Mampong
CEO of the Forestry Commission, John Allotey was nearby to examine the outcome of seedlings established under the Green Ghana Day project and learn reports of the unloaded seedlings.
"We got reports that the seedlings had been unloaded at a decline dump in Mampong locale in the Ashanti Region. We expected to come here with my group to affirm direct. We arrived earlier today and the data we got from the District Manager is that on the 28th of July, while the woods watches were going round to review trees that have been planted, they heard a truck near the woodland save. They chose to move that way. As they drew nearer, the truck moved away, they went near the site and saw the seedlings on a decline dump." Police at Mampong anyway said examinations have started into the episode and the culprits of the demonstration won't be tolerated
