A pundit thinks Liverpool have done well to tie Diogo Jota right down to a new deal, which should help to stop him from going down the same path as Sadio Mane.
Senegal transnational Mane was set to enter the ultimate 12 months of his Liverpool contract in July. Bayern Munich used his contract situation to agree a cater to Liverpool before also.
Mane came a Bayern player on June 22, following the advertisement of an agreement between the German elephants and Liverpool.
As per BBC Sport, Bayern paid the Reds around£ 35million to bear the protean forward to the Bundesliga.
Liverpool could have gotten much more for Mane if it were n’t for him being 30 and the fact his contract was running down.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have easily been soaked by Mane’s exit and have taken way to stop other players from going on the cheap.
Mo Salah, Joe Gomez and Harvey Elliott have all penned new deals this summer. So too has Jota.
He has pledged his long- term future to Liverpool by agreeing a relief five- time contract at Anfield.
Diogo Jota ‘ proud ’ after agreeing new contract
Following the advertisement of the fresh terms, Jota said “ Really proud, i have got to say.
“ Obviously since I arrived two times ago I established myself as a pivotal player in this platoon – that’s what I wanted from the morning.
“ Now, subscribing a relief long- term deal, it’s obviously from the club’s perspective evidence of the supposition in myself as a player.
“ For me, obviously it’s technical to establish I ’ll be then for a while. So, the launch of a new season, let’s roll in the hay. ”
And former bushwhacker Gabby Agbonlahor thinks this is frequently a clever move from the Merseyside club. He reckons Jota may be a ‘ brilliant player ’ and Liverpool would struggle if he left.
“ I feel he'll play( this season), ” Agbonlahor said during an interview with Football Insider.
“ Liverpool are therein numerous competitions, there'll be games when Luis Diaz does n’t play and Jota starts on the left wing. there'll be a lot of gyration so he ’ll get his game time.
New Jota deal ‘ makes sense ’ – pundit
“ Liverpool presumably do n’t want players taking place to one or two times presently. Mane left when he'd a time left, they do n’t want that problem with Jota so it's sensible.
“ You know he’s an excellent player, keep those players with a minimum of three times on their contract, do n’t allow them to go under two times. ”
Agbonlahor is true. Liverpool have to help their top players, including Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, from coming towards the top of their contracts.
This will stop other clubs from taking such a keen interest. A player will numerous time left on his contract costs big plutocrat, unlike those heading towards representation.
The Reds still have work to try to to however. Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita are among the players who have deals expiring coming summer.
Meanwhile, Klopp has told journalists what Liverpool’s transfer plans are following a string of injuries in midfield.
