Arsenal defeated Leicester City in a thrilling match at Emirates Stadium thanks to two goals from the excellent Gabriel Jesus, who made his Premier League debut for Mikel Arteta's squad. After Gabriel Jesus put on a scorching performance, scoring his first two competitive goals for Arsenal and providing two assists in a thrilling 4-2 victory over Leicester on a sweltering afternoon at Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta called the Brazilian a "serious menace.

"The Brazilian striker, who was brought in from Manchester City in the summer, assisted on his team's other goals and scored twice before halftime but also had multiple chances to score a hat-trick.

Early in the second half, William Saliba's own goal gave Leicester optimism, but Granit Xhaka's strike two minutes later restored Arsenal's two-goal advantage.

James Maddison once more cut the deficit, but Gabriel Martinelli promptly made it 4-2 to keep the Gunners' perfect record.

When Jamie Vardy and Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale collided just before halftime, Leicester was given a penalty. However, referee Darren England later overturned the call after consulting with the video assistant referee.

Before halftime, Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward denied Jesus twice after he had scored. With 10 minutes left in the game, Jesus, 25, also missed the side netting from close range.

Jesus enjoys being the top pick.

Jesus is clearly enjoying being the center of Arteta's ambitions in north London, despite the fact that he never really played second fiddle at City, when he scored 58 goals in the Premier League.

On his home debut, he displayed a variety of his skills. He produced a beautiful chip to start the scoring before displaying more predatory instincts to latch onto Vardy's defensive header and nod past Ward for his second.

Jesus' next opportunity was stopped by Ward's boot, and when he easily could have won a penalty under pressure from Jonny Evans, he stayed on his feet instead, rolling his shot just wide of the post. All of this happened before the teams had gone back to their locker rooms for the half.

His best league return for City was 14 goals in the 2019-20 season, but now installed as first-choice striker under Arteta, he could surpass that in an Arsenal set-up that promises to be highly entertaining.

The only question marks for the hosts were how they conceded when seemingly in control, but each time they hit back inside two minutes to suggest they have resilience as well flair.

Stuttering Leicester need strengthening

Leicester's only signing of the summer so far came in the week leading up to this match, but the arrival of Alex Smithies on a free transfer as third-choice goalkeeper is not a move that will have set the hearts of Foxes fans racing.

The signs at Emirates Stadium were that Brendan Rodgers' squad needs bolstering urgently, especially with rumours linking Wesley Fofana and James Maddison to Chelsea and Newcastle respectively.

After an hour, Youri Tielemans was replaced, and some Arsenal supporters mockingly chanted, "We'll see you next week," as he left.

However, the starting lineup, which has not changed from the draw with Brentford six days earlier, shows that this is merely about Leicester's first-choice pick; if so, they will need to improve if they want to avoid having a difficult season.

The Foxes gained more bite after Kelechi Iheanacho was added, and because to his hard effort, Maddison had the opportunity to assess Ramsdale before blasting through his legs to give his team renewed hope.

But a few seconds later, the 2015–16 winners fell behind again, this time by two goals, and there was no turning back.
