Harry Kane believes Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Chelsea could prove an important result for the team.
Spurs were in poor form for most of the game, twice trailing Thomas Tuchel's side, first through Kalidou Koulibaly's first-half volley, and then when Reece James scored with 13 minutes remaining.
But Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg equalized at the first attempt and then Kane secured a point for his side in added time when he curled a corner at the far post to spark scenes of wild celebration.
Although Tottenham has only won once at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League era so far, Kane insists it was an important step for the team to avoid defeat on the very difficult ground in the past. "It was a very important game to show where we are as a team," Kane told Sky Sports.
"It's a marathon, not a sprint, and we still have a long way to go with the World Cup in between. But it's important, especially after we've lost to them five or six times in the cup or the league, that Stamford Bridge wasn't our best place away for many years, so it's a point, especially at the end, a good feeling.
Chelsea will feel they should have taken all three points from a poor derby that saw both managers sent off after the game.
Spurs looked shaky on a sweltering west London afternoon, particularly in the first half, but Kane praised the visitors' resilience in holding on through the game and then ensuring they avoided defeat.
"It was a tough game against a very good team," Kane said.
"We knew it was going to be a very tough fight. In the first half, we were not good enough with or without the ball, but in the second I think we came out and pressed well, and scored goals. It was disappointing how we conceded the second.
"But we kept fighting and pushing and finally got it. I'm happy with the way we fought, especially in the second half and it was a really good feeling to get it at the end."
