Reece James blasted the referees for Chelsea's draw with Tottenham on Sunday after Spurs scored two controversial goals.

Chelsea took a first-half lead at Stamford Bridge thanks to a superb Kalidou Koulibaly goal and dominated until Pierre-Emile Hojberg equalized.

The Blues players and their manager Thomas Tuchel were furious with the goal as they felt Kai Havertz appeared to have been fouled by Rodrigo Bentancourt earlier, while Richarlison was ambushed and in Eduard Mendy's line of sight when Hojberg fired home.

Tuchel and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte had a heated exchange following the goal, but the outcome was not the same as long as James scored what he believes to be a win after a well-made move just 13 minutes from time.

But it was not for the England defender as Harry Kane beat  Mendy into injury time to make it 2-2, although there was renewed serious debate over whether the goal should have stayed when Christian Romero fouled Marc Cucurella moments earlier.

Tensions then came to a head when Tuchel and Conte were sent off after another clash after the final whistle. James, arguably man of the match for his brilliant performances across multiple positions, was as furious with his manager after the game, saying on Matchday 2: “I think we should have won the game.

"There were two controversial goals for them. I think the referee and the fourth official should look back on that. It's very disappointing for us when you deserve to win the game. "I don't know what they [the officials] saw, but we have to take the positives from the game. We beat them the whole game.

"I like to score goals and I'm in the right position. I just want to help the team as best as I can."

Chelsea was in a pole position to win this match after recording over 60% of the ball position in the first half and recording more than 8 shots with Tottenham only getting 2 in the first half of the game.
