Mbappe: "You have to accept that Real Madrid is a Ballon d'Or machine."

The Frenchman also revealed his pick for this year's award.

PSG and France National Team forward Kylian Mbappe spoke to French publication L'Équipe and discussed, among other things, his thoughts on Real Madrid's marketing machine.

"You have to admit that Real Madrid is a Ballon d'Or machine," Mbappe told L'Équipe. "The important thing is to keep my feet on the ground, but I'm still confident that I'll be able to win it at PSG one day." Does (the team) have an impact on (the award)? Of course, yes. Particularly in the last eight to nine years. It's a piece of the puzzle. You have the support of your teammates, your club, and your coach ... and you have the communication and pressure piece. Real Madrid does it exceptionally well.

Almost every year, they are able to persuade you that their player is the best candidate. When the refrain is repeated every day, especially as the election season approaches, it can have a minor impact..."

Mbappe also discussed who should win the Balon D'or and who should finish in the top three.

"My top 3? "Benzema, me, and Mané," Mbappe explained. "Karim is 34 years old, he has just had the best season of his life, he has just won another Champions League in which he was pivotal." If he does not accept, I will no longer believe in the Ballon d'Or."

Carlo Ancelotti had to watch his team come from behind in LaLiga opener

Heading into the season as one of the favourites for the domestic crown, Real Madrid overcame a significant scare in their first LaLiga match, coming from behind to defeat Almeria 2-1.

Los Blancos were expected to steamroll the newly promoted side after the positives of their midweek victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, could hardly have wished for a worse start to their domestic title defense, as Almeria broke the deadlock within six minutes.

Benzema used a clever drag back to pass the ball to Vazquez at the back post, who couldn't stop himself from tapping the ball into the net.

It seemed only a matter of time before Real Madrid took the lead; a lot of the spirit and energy had gone from Almeria's tenacious defensive performance, and it was Alaba who gave the visitors the lead with 15 minutes to go.
