Bernardo Silva, a standout for Manchester City, is frequently mentioned in connection with a possible exit this summer.

Manchester City's manager is Pep Guardiola.

The enthusiastic applause and the visceral admiration couldn't have been more revealing of how desperately Manchester City supporters want Bernardo Silva to remain. Any wonder, really?

Bernardo is a talented athlete. His performance was full of talent, technical cunning, and amazement, but it was matched by his limitless enthusiasm and selfless work. He is the ideal all-action midfielder because he can play almost anywhere, score goals or create them, exhaust teams, and control the pace of the game. The Rolls Royce and the engine are combined.

But he wants to leave the team for reasons unrelated to football. It has been that way for some time; last summer, he expressed interest in relocating to Spain to be nearer to his native Portugal. When rumors of a potential move started to spread, those who were less familiar with City were horrified: "How can City possibly sell Bernardo?" He's a genius!

City did not intend to sell him. Pep Guardiola frequently expressed his desire for his midfield dynamo to remain in the public eye. However, the club maintains a commendable, if hazardous, policy of letting players go if they so choose. Of course, the appropriate offer must come in, and a suitable replacement must be in the works,However, if those criteria are met, the Blues will not obstruct a player who wants to leave the team.

even when it's to Premier League competitors. This summer, City enabled Raheem Sterling to sign with Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as Gabriel Jesus and Aleks Zinchenko, who were all seeking more playing time or a new team where they could play in their preferred positions. They went with the club's approval, and because to their fees, they have made money this summer even though they added Erling Haaland.

It's a welcome change to see the club let those looking for a fresh start find it wherever they can rather than holding players hostage in a world where City could easily refuse to sell to direct rivals. They gain from it as well because it revitalizes the side and keeps displeased noises outside the restroom.

There is no evidence to suggest that any of the summer departures would have caused a stir if they had stayed at the Etihad, and Bernardo is not one of them. He stayed in Manchester after his move fell through last summer, never once showing any signs of disappointment, and had an incredible campaign. He earned the faith of Guardiola,in the Premier League and Champions League, starting all but six of the games.

Bernardo had many game-winning performances and was essential to the Blues reclaiming the championship. However, he is still wanting to travel back to continental Europe, and Barcelona seems eager to make that happen, just like last summer. The purportedly cash-strapped Catalonians might be able to pay City's asking price if they can pull off some other magical ruse (also known as selling everything they own to fund a transfer addiction).

If that occurs, City will be in a situation where they would typically take a back seat and permit the player to leave. However, that policy has never been put to so much of a test before, so the club ought to carefully consider deviating from it in this case. A player of Bernardo's caliber and significance just cannot be allowed to leave at this time.

There are currently little over two weeks left in the window, and the season is already well under way. Finding a player who is capable of doing everything Bernardo is capable of would be challenging, if not impossible, at the best of circumstances, but it will be far more challenging during silly season when selling teams know they have the power to demand extremely high prices amid desperate buyers.

Only 19 senior players would remain on the squad if a substitute couldn't be identified. A player with Bernardo's versatility is extremely helpful in a small squad since, in the event of injuries, he can cover for anyone in midfield and attack. Without him, it would be far more difficult to handle a crisis like the one that occurred toward the close of the previous season.

especially considering that City has already released four players with similar flexibility. Guardiola now has less alternatives because Fernandinho and the three sales were frequently asked to play in unusual places. Another significant departure like Bernardo may be perceived as going too far in a summer that has already witnessed a lot of change. approving a sale for next summer,It would make far more sense to update everything at once when there is adequate time to find a replacement.

The City supporters are aware of Bernardo's desire to leave, but instead of jeering him as other supporters might, they cheered him on as he approached the field during the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth. His movements were appreciated, and he received cheers when he turned to get a drink. The second half was when the crowd was the loudest, and that includes the celebrations after the fourth goal. According to the several beautiful clips we see of Bernardo's teammates laughing with him, the fans and his colleagues both enjoy him.

The club would suffer from Bernardo's exit, especially because it would feel premature compared to the other departures. both physically and emotionally. If City decides to go against their great stance and keep Bernardo against his wishes, their chances of being the first side to win a third consecutive Premier League championship and winning the Champions League may very well be in jeopardy.
