Robbers attack Goil station, injuring two people and killing one.

A dawn attack on one of Goil Fuel Station's branches left two people injured and one person dead.

Prosper Dotse Kugbleafe, the deceased, is a retired army officer who worked as a security guard at the station.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday around 2:00 a.m. at the Wassa Akropong Goil Fuel Station.

Awudu Issaka, the Operations Manager for Goil, confirmed the robbery attack to Angel News' Nana Ackaah, saying, "I received a call around 4am that our station at Wassa Akropong had been attacked by robbers." While we were rushing from Kumasi to the location, we received word that our security officer, Prosper, had been killed during the raid. It's a sad tale."

He went on to say that "one of the robbers slapped our supermarket attendant after they asked for a safety key [which he didn't even know what it was]." Given the nature of the slap, he now has vision problems."

Mr. Awudu claims that another employee was hit in the head with the gun retrieved from the deceased's security guard, causing him to fall. According to CCTV footage, one of the robbers attempted to shoot the staff, but the gun did not fire.

He went on to say that the robbers eventually fled after a second security officer stationed at the fuel station began firing.

"The other security began shooting and even chased the robbers." He could have shot one if he had been close enough, but we don't know if he was hit or not... We are heartbroken, and my condolences go out to Prosper Dotse's family."

Meanwhile, the Wassa Akropong Fuel Station Manager, who spoke to Angel News, called for increased police presence in the area, stating that increased robbery activity would drive investors away.

According to the Ghana Meteorological Service, the alleged claims circulating on social media indicating a heavy storm in Ghana tonight are "completely false" (GMS).

This follows the GMS's attention being drawn to social media information indicating that the country would be greeted with a strong and nasty rainstorm on the night of Monday, August 15, 2022.

"The Ghana Meteorological Service has issued a severe storm warning for Ghana tonight." It will be potent and venomous. People are advised to return home early, stay indoors, and stay safe. Please notify others as soon as you receive this information in order to save lives," the alleged GMS alert stated.

In a swift response, the Ghana Meteorological Service denied knowledge of the communiqué and called it false.

"Our attention has been drawn to information spreading on social media. The information does not come from the forecast office, and the content is completely false," it stated in a statement obtained by Angelonline.com. gh

The retort further urged the public to "ignore the message and continue to follow us for regular updates."
