Under Dampare - Akufo-Addo, the Police Service has transformed.
President Akufo-Addo has praised the Police Service and its Inspector General, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, for their selfless leadership in transforming the service.
According to the President, the government fully supports the efforts of the police to restore law and order in the country.
"This service is part of the transformational agenda in establishing the service as one of the best in the country and a modern institution for the rest of the world." This audacious initiative is intended to restore public confidence and trust, and it has the full support of the government.
"The institution such as the public service needs to reconsecrate itself to respond adequately to the country's security needs, and Ghanaians are witness to the service's pragmatic steps in this regard," the President stated.
On Monday, August 15, 2022, President Akufo-Addo made these remarks while handing over motorbikes to the Police Administration at the National Operations Centre at the Police Headquarters in Accra.
"The government is well aware of the service's efforts, led by the Inspector General of Police and members of the police management board, to intensify targeted operations to combat violent crimes," the President added.
Dr. Akufo Dampare, Inspector General of Police, stated that the service appreciates all support and welcomes constructive criticism from all quarters.
"We intend to be the best institution and a reference point for the rest of the world, and we intend to do so." We can assure you that whatever you provide for us today will be put to good use in making the country safer," he said.

A fire broke out in a private residence at Ohwim in Kumasi's Bantama sub-metropolis, killing a mother and her two children.
Philomena, the woman, and her two children, ages eight and four, were allegedly burned beyond recognition.
The Assemblyman for Ohwim, Hon. Erastus Ebo Boison, said the fire started around 12 midnight in an interview on Otec FM's breakfast show dubbed 'Nyansapo' on Tuesday August 16, 2022. He stated that the cause of the fire is unknown, but he suspects arson.
According to him, one of the deceased children, a 14-year-old girl, told him that all she saw was fire but was able to escape because she was sleeping in a different room.
The late's husband, who is said to be a bank manager of a rural bank in Ashanti, was not present at the time.
Meanwhile, police and fire personnel have begun investigations into the incident.
