Adwoa Safo responds to her dismissal as Gender Minister by Akufo-Addo.

Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Constituency, has responded to the Presidency's letter announcing her dismissal as Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, issued a statement on July 8, 2022, announcing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-decision Addo's to relieve the MP of her ministerial role.

Sarah Adwoa Safo thanked the president in a letter dated August 5, 2022 for the opportunity to serve as a minister during both of his terms.

"On Friday, July 29, 2022, I handed over all official assets to the Ministry's administrator." "I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for the opportunity to serve as Minister during both terms of your government," she wrote in her letter to the President.

"I am exceedingly grateful for your understanding, compassion, and unending devotion through this past year, especially during a very difficult period for me where I had to be away from office," the MP for Dome Kwabenya said of her long absence from the country, which prompted calls for and her subsequent dismissal. Your generous assistance has been greatly appreciated, and I will be eternally grateful."

She went on to say that the decision to relieve her of ministerial duties gives her the opportunity to better serve her constituents.

"Aware of my responsibilities to the 75,000 constituents who elected me, this development is an opportunity for me to consolidate the gains we have made as a government at the constituency level in our quest to break the eight," she added..

The Northern Region's Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has threatened to disrupt the academic calendar if the government does not release funds for food items.

"In light of the foregoing, we wish to state that if we do not receive immediate releases, the SHS students of the single track schools who are scheduled to return to school tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, will not report until we receive money." This includes those in transitional schools who are scheduled to report on September 4, 2022," according to a CHASS statement.

According to CHASS, suppliers who provide credit for perishable items such as eggs and meat are unable to continue supply due to the amount owed.

The heads of the region have hinted that funds for perishable foods have not been paid for nearly eleven weeks of the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year.
