JURGEN KLOPP GIVES LIVERPOOL INJURY UPDATE AHEAD OF MANCHESTER UNITED GAME

In the week leading up to Monday night's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, the Reds lost several key players through injury, resulting in Klopp fielding a starting XI that was far from full strength.

Prior to the start of the season, Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all sidelined through injury, while Thiago Alcantara joined them in the treatment room after their season opener against Fulham.

But the list has continued to grow in recent days, with Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino missing the Palace game, while Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson were only deemed fit enough to come off the bench.

"It's been a crazy week, I've been through a lot of weeks, but it looks like we have wizards at home," Klopp said after Monday's game.

"Every day it feels like someone else quits for the craziest reasons.

"In the end, Joey [Gomez] didn't start and then he did really well, I must say, but he didn't start because he just trained again yesterday, he started the week with a bit of a problem.

“Hendo, this morning we learned that there were some concerns if he played too long, so he didn't play for long. That's the situation, which is not very cool.

“Bobby [Firmino] didn't make it. Can be ready again next week. [Matip] will last two weeks or so I think. We'll see.'

Klopp is hoping to get as many players back on the pitch as soon as possible after picking up just two points in the first two games of the season against an opponent who is widely expected to beat them. The absences of Gomez, Matip, and Konate meant a disgraced Nat Phillips was forced to play against the Eagles and the center-back looked confused against the likes of Wilfred Zaha and Eberechi Eze.

Firmino's return could not come immediately for Liverpool as the team currently lack a natural striker for the next three games with Iota injured and Darwin Nunes suspended after being sent off after a foul with Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Liverpool's next game is another game on Monday night, this time against fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
