National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Lawyer George Opare Addo has advised the longest serving General Secretary of the party not to contest for the chairmanship position if he intends to in the upcoming internal elections.
Former Municipal Chief Executive Officer and now National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Lawyer George Opare Addo has commended the current national officers of the party and advised that they are maintained going into the 2024 elections.
Speaking to Citi TV's Umaru Sanda Amadu on the Face to Face show, the youth leader of the party commended his colleague national officers of the party for their hard work and dedication which gave the party a convincing improvement in the last elections and a control of Parliament by the election of Speaker Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin.
"In 2018, we were elected into office to steer the affairs of the party, to which we have successfully done".
He was speaking to a direct question by the host on the performance of the party officers in the last four years as the election process to elect new officers has commenced.
The opposition National Democratic Congress has began it's election of officers at the branch level and is expected to be done at all levels by the end of the year. On performance, he applauded the current officers and opined they are maintained to build on the progress made.
He however, upon hearing for the first time from the host, Johnson Asiedu Nketia's ambitions to become the chairman of the party, advised that he contests the General Secretary's position and abort the chairmanship ambitions at least for now.
Opare Addo expressed disappointment in President Akufo-Addo's governance and asked the youth of Ghana to rally behind his party ahead of the 2024 elections.
