The management of Opoku Ware confirms that its students were involved in the Kumasi robbery.
The management of the Opoku Ware Senior High School (SHS) has confirmed that the three people arrested by the Ghana Police Service in a robbery incident in Kumasi are its students.
According to a statement issued by the school's Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, Agyemang Duah Bismark, a delegation led by the headmaster confirmed the identity of the student at the police station as soon as the news broke.
"When the boys were brought in for identification, it was discovered that they were, in fact, OWASS students." Akwasi Adu Donkor (BY 2) and Owusu Appiah Raphael were their names (BY 664). Asubonteng Osei Kwadwo (BY 76) was identified as the third suspect who had escaped, according to the statement.
However, the administration noted that, while the boys involved are students at the school, they committed the offense when the school was closed and they were to be in the custody of their parents.
It was also stated that the three boys involved had a long history of indiscipline and had even been removed from the school's boarding house.
"On the same day, Akwasi Adu Donkor and Asubonteng Osei Kwadwo were removed from the boarding house for the following offenses: breaking bounds at night; wearing unprescribed attire in school (and) fighting in school."
"Owusu Appiah Raphael was also kicked out of the boarding house for stealing from his dormmates on numerous occasions." Following this incident, he and four other students appeared before the D.C. for unauthorized entry into someone's home at TUC. Despite his withdrawal from the boarding house, he has also been hiding in the dormitory," according to the statement.
The school's administration added that it had done everything possible to reform the three boys involved, but to no avail.

According to Dr. George Nyarko, the Akatsi Municipal Director of Health Services, the municipality has recorded three deaths and 61 cases since the Coronavirus Disease outbreak.
He stated that the cases had decreased at one point until a new case was recorded within the municipality on Tuesday, August 9.
Dr Nyarko made the remarks at the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly Hall during a meeting of the Municipal Health Committee.
Dr. Nyarko stated that 21,213 people received single dose vaccinations, while 5,081 received full vaccinations.
Dr. Nyarko also stated that approximately 70,563 residents in the area have yet to receive the vaccines.
He urged the public to take the vaccines freely for their own safety.
He urged traditional authorities and religious leaders to reinvigorate public education about the importance of receiving vaccines.
Mr Dzorgbenyuie Kwadzo Banini, the Akatsi South Municipal Coordinating Director, also urged people to disregard all political efforts and misinformation aimed at discouraging others from receiving vaccines.
