A CALL FOR UNITY
On Sunday, 14th August, 2022 at The Church of Pentecost, PIWC-Ho, the Presiding Elder, Elder Makafui Nyamadi gave a sermon titled, "The Armor of Unity".
He gave the background to the sermon as being that, there
were two prophecies on a particular Sunday not long ago, asking the church to
be united as one.
Prophecy is when God speaks to the church through humans in
audible language.
Elder Makafui Nyamadi explained that there is a need to be
united as a church, a family or a group and that unity has benefits of fruit
bearing and no destruction. He gave some examples of model of unity as The
Trinity; God, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, man as a tripartite
being; body, soul and spirit and then the church as a unit.
He added that we can activate unity through mutual love,
honour, humility, respect, caring, etc.
After church service on the same Sunday, myself and family had
to travel to Atimpoku, a town noted for the construction of the famous Adomi
Bridge. My husband started singing en route , so I decided to record him.
Realizing some of my funs on Facebook lived outside the Volta
Region, I decided to do a facebook live with commentary as we drove through the
numerous towns we came across from Ho to Atimpoku, as a way of letting them know
the names of such towns.
We reached Aboasa, a town along the Ho-Accra road, and we decided to stopover. I saw this elderly woman, who mentioned her name to be Madam Naomi Asabea, who had closed from church. My usual bubbly media self decided to have a chat with her. She had closed from the Methodist Church and looked so cheerful.
Our conversation revealed that the preacher at her church
spoke about UNITY. She explained that,
"the rich and the poor should come together and be one".
My sense of wonder arose upon hearing the same sermon topic
'Unity' from 2 different sources: Ho and Aboasa; The Church of Pentecost and
The Methodist Church, Direct and Reported.
Unity is when a group or a collection sees itself as one and
works towards an objective. In such a group, the individual members complement
each other, hide each other's flaws and seek for the good of the other.
Please if you come across this write-up, it is a call to
become one. We may not be able to become as exactly as the early church did,
but let us put in our best.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Enyomedia, Ho.
