CHELSEA DEFENDER MARK CUCURELLA HAS BROKEN SILENCE ON CHRISTIAN ROMERO'S HAIR-PULL

Chelsea full-back Mark Cucurella insists he will not change his hair, although it was controversially pulled out just before Tottenham's equalizer in Sunday's London derby.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was furious after Christian Romero's behavior at Stamford Bridge, which he thought deserved a red card when Spurs scored from a Harry Kane corner. Referee Anthony Taylor did not penalize the incident, nor did the video assistant referee (VAR), Mike Dean, despite extensive review.

Cucurella, a £62m signing from Brighton, insists he will not be moving despite the Football Association (FA) not mandating hair-pulling against current rules.

"No, no [I will never get a haircut], that's my style," the 24-year-old said at Cobham on Wednesday. "It's not a problem for me. I spoke to him [Romero] before the game and it's a fight on the pitch. I have no problem with him and he is the only one active in the game.

"Maybe it's an important step because it can change the point. I think we will have another chance in a few months and this is our chance." For me yes [that's a violation] because it's clear. In the game, off the pitch, I don't see the video. But I think with the video it is very clear. It could be the referee's fault or the VAR, but sometimes referees make good decisions, sometimes bad decisions.

"That's not my problem. The players are focused on the game and maybe we have to work hard not to concede last-minute goals in the next few games.

"The referee at the stadium said he was looking for a red card and that was very clear to me. The video was very clear. I don't know what happened to the judge at that time.

"Sometimes good, sometimes bad. This is football and in this game, it was a mistake. But in other games, the referee makes good decisions."

The Football Association, which has charged both managers after their fall at Stamford Bridge, is now investigating Tuchel's comments about referee Taylor and the Romero and Cucurella incident.

Cucurella should be permanent this summer window as Manchester City looked to sign him only for Chelsea to steal the bid.

He admits the price is high as the Blues surpass their rivals by more than £20m but says he is ready to pay them back with trophies.

"It's been a busy summer, there's been a lot of rumors," he added. "When I was at Brighton in the summer I thought it would be a good time for me to go to a big club and I think Chelsea is a big club. I'm really happy to be here, they've been very interested in me all summer, so I'm very happy.

"I'm very happy because it's a lot of money and a little bit of responsibility for me. I'm happy because Todd (Bowley) and the coach are very interested in me coming here.

"So I'm very happy to be here and I have to work hard, adapt to the team and be ready to do well for the club.

"I think we have a good team, a lot of young players. Winning trophies is very difficult, but we worked hard for those moments throughout the season.

"The team has experience of winning big trophies and that is our aim this season. Obviously, the Premier League is one of the best (to win trophies)."
