GHANAIAN FORWARD NICO WILLIAMS SHORTLISTED FOR 2022 GOLDEN BOY AWARD

Spanish-born Ghanaian and Athletic club forward Nico Williams has made the 60 young players shortlisted for the Golden Boy 2022 award.

The Athletic Bilbao winger makes it into the final 60 candidates after it was pruned down from 100 to compete for the award given by Italian outlet Tuttosport.

The golden boy award sees to recognize the best young talents in the world under 21 years of age.


The 20-year-old had an incredible season with Athletic Bilbao making 34 appearances for the club.

Nico Williams made the shortlist together with these players; Nico González, Balde, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Araujo, Barcelona), Reiner, Camavinga (Real Madrid), 


Musah (Valencia), Ali Cho (Real Sociedad), Nico himself, Yéremi Pino (Villarreal)

The Golden Boy award is designed to recognize the best players under 21 in the European football.

This prestigious award is granted by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport has been considered for some years now as the Ballon d'Or for young players on the international scene.

The number of candidatess will be reduced from then on each month by a total of 20 units until October 15, at which time the decision to crown the ‘Golden Boy will fall on (40) international sports media who will decide between the (20) young soccer players who still remain on the list.

Ghana Baba Rahman is set to decide on his future with Reading FC and West Brom waiting on the Ghana star’s decision, Ghanasoccer.net can report.

The Black Stars left-back is on his way out of Chelsea football club after manager Thomas Tuchel made clear that Rahman is not in his plans for this season.
