Antonio Conte has raised the possibility of a new signing from Tottenham this summer, saying the club should replace the departing player before the end of the month.
Tanguy Ndombele arrived in Rome on Thursday to undergo a medical ahead of a season-long loan from Napoli, while Giovani Lo Celso returned to Villarreal on loan last week.
However, Conte does not consider any of the midfielders part of his squad as they returned from a previous loan spell at the start of pre-season and trained individually. Harry Winks and Sergio Regillon are also on the transfer list and are training on their own.
However, Brian Gill and Japhet Tanganga are among the players currently in Conte's squad but could leave the club before the end of the month in search of regular football.
Asked if Spurs would replace players who left, Conte said: "We are fine. But if one leaves, another player will come. Especially if some players want to play regularly. It is difficult to keep him here.
"But at the same time it has to be very clear that if a player wants to play, I have to replace him. This is very important. We need to have a squad capable of playing a lot of games in November. This is very important to me."
Spurs this week completed their seventh signing of the summer as 19-year-old Udinese defender Destinee Udogie returns to the Italian club on loan for the remainder of the season.
"He is a player for the future," Conte said. "I think he is a good prospect for Tottenham because we are talking about young players. Of course, this player needs to develop like [Jed] Spence and I think he is a good investment for the club. He will now continue to play for Udinese this season and thus has the opportunity to play regularly.
When you are young you have to play to improve your experience. We are of course talking about good prospects, but we are talking about players for the future, not for the present. He needs to develop and grow with a group of players with more experience."
