Casemiro, a midfielder from Real Madrid, has caught the interest of Man United, and he would be a fantastic acquisition.
With the UEFA Super Cup trophy, Casemiro revels.
This week, Manchester United contacted Real Madrid to inquire about the potential of signing Casemiro. There is no disputing that Casemiro would be a fantastic addition to the team, despite the club's desperate recruitment approach this summer.
The recruitment throughout this window has not been consistent. John Murtough's travel expenditures cost United more money than midfielders because of their scrambling in the market. Only one midfield player has been added, and his name is Christian Eriksen. Casemiro's interest has seemingly come out of thin air, and it has been a characteristic of the summer.
Casemiro would be the most significant signing of the summer at Old Trafford, despite the amateurish circumstances that led the club to approach Real Madrid about the player (making no progress with Frenkie de Jong and failing to agree terms with Adrien Rabiot). Ironically, the Reds' interest in the player has been a result of the club's failures elsewhere.
Throughout his nine years at Real Madrid, Casemiro has excelled as a defensive midfielder of the highest caliber. Among other significant domestic achievements, Casemiro has five Champions League victories and three La Liga crowns to his credit.
Casemiro demonstrated with his performance in May's Champions League final victory over Liverpool that he is still a superb, specialized player in defensive midfield. The 30-year-old appears to have several more years to play at the highest level.
What makes him want to leave Madrid, then? United will participate in the Europa League, a competition Casemiro has never been forced to compete in after two humiliating losses to Brighton and Brentford this season.
Although Madrid has just added promising defensive midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, and Casemiro is facing competition for the starting job, leaving United would make him one of the highest-paid players at Old Trafford.Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo are reputed to be close pals of the midfielder.
Even though Casemiro is aware that moving from the Bernabeu to Old Trafford would be a step down, there are reasons why he would think about doing so. It will be necessary for them to cancel Thursday night games against groups like Lech Poznan.
On the other hand, it's not hard to understand why United wants to sign Casemiro. Despite being in the latter stages of his career, United would be signing one of Europe's best players in the position of defensive midfielder, a position in critical need of filling.
As the center of a three-man midfield, Casemiro would instantly enhance Erik ten Hag's team and add some much-needed balance. It is plainly evident from their prior experience in that role that Scott and Fred McTominay are not the solution.
Given Casemiro's abilities, he actually outperforms McTominay and Fred on every passing metric, with the exception of those that compare successful crucial passes. At the basis of the midfield, Casemiro's explosive variety of passing would really set the tone.
Fred in comparison to Casemiro.
Casemiro considerably outperforms McTominay and Fred in two of three categories that concern passing, with the player averaging 65 successful passes and 14.2 successful passes into the final third per 90 the prior year.
When compared to McTominay and Fred, who rarely set a high bar, the number of ball recoveries he makes also stands out. Last season, Casemiro recovered 8.1 balls on average per 90 minutes, slightly under twice as many as McTominay (4.9) and Fred (5.2) did in the Premier League. That demonstrates why Casemiro should be the starting midfielder for the Reds.

Supporters will be hoping that this is not the case, but there is a perception that Casemiro's agent may be using United as a negotiating tool for a higher wage for his client. Additionally, football director Murtough will be hopeful Casemiro is genuinely interested in joining United this summer after being taken down the garden path. For the sake of his reputation, he must complete this transfer.
