A 17-year-old Liverpool prospect is in first-team training ahead of the Manchester United match
Bobby Clark, a young Liverpool striker, has continued to train with the first team ahead of Monday's game against Manchester United.
The 17-year-old was named to Liverpool's bench for the first time last week against Crystal Palace.
With Darwin Nunez now suspended, he was spotted training with the first team once more. Clark has a chance of being named as a substitute at Old Trafford.
Nunez's dismissal has left Liverpool lacking in the attacking department. Diogo Jota is still out, and Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino have left the club. Clark is thus Jurgen Klopp's next option.
Clark rockets up the Liverpool pecking order.
This information could mean one of two things. To begin, Clark represents an exciting prospect for Liverpool. He scored 13 goals in 2021/22 after joining from the Newcastle United academy last year.
His tenacity and versatility on the offensive line earned him a spot on the team's pre-season tour of Asia this summer. He clearly impressed Klopp enough there to keep him in the first-team setup.
It's early in the teenager's career, but he'll be under pressure to follow in the footsteps of his father, Lee Clark. If all of the pieces fall into place for him, he could make his first-team debut this season.
Second, it emphasizes Liverpool's lack of depth in the forward areas at the moment.
Injuries have played a role, but Liverpool are down on last season in terms of sheer numbers. Minamino and Origi led The Reds through the early rounds of the domestic cups last year, but both have since left.
Sadio Mane also left, leaving Klopp with three senior options up front.
Nunez and Fabio Carvalho have been brought in, though the latter has also played some midfield.
That's two out and three in. With the injuries to Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, Liverpool are down to the bare bones. Despite this, no new signings will be made during the transfer window. That could be good news for Clark as he tries to make a name for himself. i’m
