Some students have lost their eyesight, according to student accounts.
According to Kofi, a student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), some students have lost their eyes and arms as a result of the clash between the Continental and Katanga Halls.
On Thursday, August 18, 2022, there was a violent clash between students from University Hall (Katanga) and Unity Hall (Continental).
According to reports, during the Hall Week Celebration, students from Katanga embarked on a procession, moved to the main university entrance gate, blocked traffic flow on the Kumasi-Accra highway, and caused significant vehicular traffic.
They decided to use the Unity Hall arena on their way back to campus, despite a mutual agreement not to encroach on each other's "territory."
According to reports, Katanga students decided to pelt stones at residents of Unity Hall without provocation in an attempt to force them to react.
When that failed, the Katangees allegedly destroyed everything on site, including cars belonging to staff, and the clash began.
As a result, it is believed that 12 students from both sides were injured but were treated at the KNUST Hospital.

Giving a vivid account on Atinka TV's morning show, Ghana Nie, with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, the student, Kofi said some were injured to the point where recovery would be difficult.
Although he did not see any other weapons during the clash, Kofi said that from a distance, the two sides threw stones at each other, causing some of the students to lose their eyes.
He also confirmed that the majority of the staff's vehicles had been damaged.
According to Kofi, students from Conti Hall were the most affected.
Meanwhile, he stated that calm had been restored in the school following police intervention.
However, as of the time of filing this report, he stated that they had not received any official communication from the school authorities.
