CRISTIANO RONALDO AND TWO OTHER PROMINENT PLAYERS WON'T PLAY FOR MANCHESTER UNITED AGAINST LIVERPOOL

Cristiano Ronaldo and two other prominent players won't play for Manchester United against Liverpool

Why has Man United's season started off so terribly if they are in such turmoil before Liverpool comes to Old Trafford?

Following a dismal start to the season in which they drew their opening two games against Fulham and Crystal Palace, the Reds are back in Premier League action on Monday evening.

Therefore, victory over their fiercest rivals is crucial for Jurgen Klopp's team, who are already lagging behind teams like Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

Come on, how awful is it at Manchester United right now?

In all honesty, it's difficult to say. Nothing in comparison to the numb feeling of last season, which Liverpool took full advantage of in both fixtures.

There is some disappointment with our first two matches, especially after such a strong preseason, but there is also a general awareness that Erik ten Hag couldn't instantly transform Man United's worst-ever team into a force to be reckoned with.

It was always going to become worse before it got better, so this process will be lengthy.

Although I wouldn't say Ten Hag is off the hook, this season was always going to be difficult, especially after receiving scant to no support during the transfer window before to the start of the campaign.

What went wrong since the preseason when things looked to be going better?

Nothing specifically has gone wrong, in my opinion. Preseason is seldom a reliable predictor of future performance, as Louis van  Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

Given that Ten Hag only had one new player on the roster before the season began, sane supporters understood what to anticipate.

But I can't deny how incredibly upsetting it has been. Under Ten Hag, it was always going to take some time to get used to things, but the Brentford game was surprising and was largely the result of individual errors.

The situation won't improve until he has enough time to impart his philosophy on the current players, but more crucially, until he is able to assemble and manage his own team.

As unpleasant as it is to confess, I hope that Ten Hag's reign will progress in a manner akin to how Liverpool's first season under Klopp was far from easy.

Regardless of whether it's feasible given the current ownership in place remains to be seen.

How significant is Ronaldo's current predicament in general?

It was exhausting to witness so many people, primarily those with ties to rival clubs, last season blame Cristiano Ronaldo for the failing team's lack of direction.

Although he was far from it, the irony is that he is now an issue.

The most skilled scorer and goalie are where Ten Hag's intricate technique begins. Ronaldo cannot press. So that's it.

However, he announced his intention to depart at a terrible time—months after it became evident that United wouldn't play in the Champions League this year—and the circus that would follow Ten Hag's decision wouldn't have been of any use.

If a good offer comes in, United must  facilitate his exit.

Looking ahead to Monday, do you think Ten Hag will go with a more pragmatic approach?

Five-at-the-back isn’t likely on the agenda, but don’t expect a midfield featuring both Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen.

Ten Hag has never been one to heavily rotate in league games either, no matter how bad it’s going, but I think there will be big changes.

Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo all to drop out.

My predicted XI: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Sancho, Eriksen, Rashford; Martial.
