Kwadwo Opoku, a forward from Ghana, scored in Los Angeles' 2-1 MLS defeat to San Jose Earthquakes.
In spite of Sunday's loss at PayPal Park, the 21-year-old scored his eighth goal of the year.
San Jose Earthquakes' Benjamin Kikanovic opened the scoring in the 14th minute.
Before Cowell's game-winning goal in the 77th minute sealed the victory for the San Jose Earthquakes, Kwadwo Opoku scored the equalizer for Los Angeles FC in the 54th minute.
Latif Blessing participated in the game for Los Angeles for 63 minutes before being replaced.
