MARTIN BRAITHWAITE OF BARCELONA REQUESTS A PAY RAISE IN ORDER TO JOIN A LA LIGA TEAM

The anticipated transfer of Martin Braithwaite to RCD Mallorca may not go through since the midfielder reportedly demanded a higher wage than he was receiving at Barcelona.

The Danish international's top preference, according to the Spanish news source Mundo Deportivo, is to stay at the Camp Nou. Even if teammates Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay depart the team soon, he still feels that he can be useful to boss Xavi.

Barcelona, meanwhile, is thought to be keen for Braithwaite to leave the team in order to balance the books amid the Catalan giants' well-documented financial difficulties.

The club currently showing the most interest in the Dane is Mallorca, but they are starting to get weary of the striker's exorbitant wage demands.

In order to make the Denmark team for the 2017 World Cup, which begins in Qatar later in the year, Braithwaite must play frequently this season.

It is obvious that he needs to lessen his expectations if he wants to receive more chances to perform well on the field.

Braithwaite was reportedly considered surplus to needs by Xavi, as evidenced by the Spaniard's decision to leave him out of the traveling squad for the team's preseason tour in the United States

However, Braithwaite has the initiative because of his extended contract at Camp Nou, which lasts through the summer of 2024.

Braithwaite and Mallorca manager Javier Aguirre, who coached Braithwaite at Leganes between November 2019 and February 2020, are anticipated to meet.

Barcelona has once again spent a lot of money this summer despite their chronic financial problems.

Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde have all been signed as of this writing.

Xavi is reportedly not content with his team and wants to acquire additional players before the transfer window closes.

The club's primary goal right now is to offload players. Frenkie de Jong has been on the market, but the Catalan club has been frustrated by the player's desire to remain.

It is unclear whether the 25-year-old will come to England before the transfer window closes, despite the fact that he has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.
