Thomas Tuchel looks ahead to Chelsea's game against Southampton

Tuesday night's trip to Southampton for Chelsea will be an attempt to continue their recent 2-1 victory over Leicester City. While some players are still out due to injury or suspension, others have returned but are not entirely fit, according to Thomas Tuchel. Express Sport examines Chelsea's possible lineups, including one alteration, for the match against Southampton.

Edouard Mendy goalkeeper

Tuchel will continue to use Edouard Mendy as his starting goalkeeper despite the fact that he hasn't appeared the most confident in recent weeks. Kepa Arrizabalaga has been instructed to remain at Chelsea and compete for a spot, but he might have to hold out on that for a little while longer.

Chalobah, Thiago Silva, and Koulibaly Kalidou on defense Due to his suspension for being dismissed in the 3-0 loss against Leeds United, Koulibaly was unable to participate in the victory over Leicester City. But Tuchel has declared that the Senegalese center-back will start at St. Mary's.

Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva were the starting back three against the Foxes the last time he played, and both could start this time. Now, Chalobah is expected to remain at Chelsea past the summer transfer window.

James, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, and Cucurella play midfield.

Due to his early dismissal against Leicester, Conor Gallagher will not play against Southampton. Reece James and Marc Cucurella are likely to start as Tuchel's wing-backs, and Jorginho will pair Ruben Loftus-Cheek in central midfield.

On Saturday, Mateo Kovacic made a comeback to the game from the bench, but it's probably too soon for him to start again. In contrast, it would be risky to give Carney Chukwuemeka his first start away from home under the lights when N'Golo Kante is still out with a hamstring injury.

Attackers: Havertz, Sterling, and Mount

This season, Tuchel has stuck with his first-choice front three, which consists of Kai Havertz in the middle and Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling on each side. And he plans to stick with the trio until he adds a new player to his squad in the last days of the transfer window, whether it be Anthony Gordon, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, or another player.

For the Blues against Leicester, Sterling found his scoring touch, scoring both goals to secure the victory, and he'll be itching for more on the south coast.
