Erik ten Hag's need for new additions in five crucial areas was fulfilled, thus Manchester United's owners, the Glazers, are likely to view the summer transfer window as a success. The Dutchman has been granted his wish thanks to the arrival of Antony on deadline day. The United manager is believed to have expressed his desire to see a full-back, a center-back, a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder, and a forward all brought in during the off-season.

After spending the bulk of the summer attempting an unlikely deal for Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong in particular, the Red Devils have come under fire for their market failings in recent months. Additionally, United's handling of the Adrien Rabiot situation and their embarrassing Marko Arnautovic incident left them with egg on their faces.

At spite of all that, they seem to have retrieved it in the last minute. And despite everything, Ten Hag will undoubtedly be a content man. After all, the support of the Glazers allowed the former Ajax manager to get his demands granted.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Ten Hag asked United to strengthen in these five areas this summer:front row, full back, center back, attacking midfield, and central midfield. The board of United struck Ten Hag's goal, even though it took them until the last few hours of the last day of the transfer window to do it.

Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and last but not least, Antony, were all signed this summer in a single-window spending record for Manchester United that exceeded an astounding £225 million. In addition, they were able to compensate for Dean Henderson's loan to Nottingham Forest by bringing in Martin Dubravka of Newcastle on deadline day.

While United's haphazard hiring strategy this summer has occasionally made the footballing world cringe, credit must go to the Glazers and the team for believing in their new manager. Ten Hag not only got the five new players he wanted in important places on the field, but he also had a big say in who should fill those roles.

Upon learning they should have ended their negotiations with Frenkie de Jong far sooner and that they would have ended their negotiations with Antony too soon had it not been for Ten Hag's intervention, United's board barely basked in glory. However, they have managed to save their summer spending just in time.

Although the approach may not have been the best and the club's decision to spend more than £1.4 billion on new players in the last nine years alone may not be excused, United deserves praise for their perseverance in securing a number of high-profile players and winning over their new manager. One can only hope that Ten Hag's cool, collected, and refined demeanor now starts to filter down to the rest of the club in the future.
