MANIFESTO PRESENTED BY MR. TAY-AKWADA EMMANUEL AS SRC GENERAL SECRETARY CANDIDATE AT AKATSI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, LETSA KORBA HALL, ON SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2022.

Mr. Chairman, Members of the Electoral Commission, Distinguished Personalities, Outgoing Executives, Fellow Students, Colleague Candidates, Ladies and Gentlemen, today marks another milestone in the history of our noble institution where we are called upon to elect proactive and purpose driven leaders who will champion the course and welfare of the student body.

It is in the light of this that I, Tay-Akwada Emmanuel present myself as a worthy candidate for the Position of SRC GENERAL SECRETARY. I stand here today to present to you, noble people of Akatsi College of Education, and my vision which I would, with the help of God bring on board when I am given the mandate as the GENERAL SECRETARY. May I congratulate all the outgoing executives for faithfully discharging their duties and for their immense contribution towards the development of mother AKATSICO. Congratulations I say to you all.

Mr. Chairman, the General Secretary is a vital position and plays a key role in the administration. This role involves supporting and representing the student body during meetings and gatherings and as such, it needs a multitask person who will assume this position and serve in diverse ways.

I, Tay-Akwada Emmanuel having served in the field of Course Secretary for Level 200 Technical A and also an industrious Minority Chief Whip in the 5th Parliament of Akatsi College of Education, SRC deem it fit to be elected as the General Secretary of Akatsi College of Education, SRC.

Mr. Chairman, my mantra which states that ‘better together’ is a policy building competency within me which explains teamwork and dedication. I wish to also state it categorically that the position of the General Secretary goes far beyond writing of minutes and taking records and thus duly requires team work.

Fellow students, when voted into power, I will in hand with other appropriate executives implement a decentralized based General Assembly meeting. This meeting will be structured to address the issues from the base before addressed at the centralized General Assembly meeting. The Decentralized assembly meeting seeks to be organized at the hall levels where issues will be handled beforehand and later be addressed before the populace.

Ladies and gentlemen, to the best of my knowledge, the affiliate university, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has created a student portal for all affiliated colleges of education. Akatsi College of Education among equal is of no exception. For the effectiveness of the student portal, when given the power, I will work in hand with the executive to work assiduously in bringing the portal into existence thus engaging the school administration through appropriate medium.

Mr. Chairman, to make the Student Representative Council friendly, I deem it possible to bring into action the Course Representative Training Policy. This policy will be implemented to receive adequate information from the various course representatives as they are equipped with the right medium of communication, proper case handling technique and above all acceptable interpersonal relationship through the training. This policy will go a long way to solve some discrepancies in line with academics and social school culture.

In addition to, the cognitive aspect of every student is also a focus of the school administration likewise the Student Representative Council. When voted into power, I will engage the SRC Vice President to adequately organize inter-departmental or hall quiz, essay and debate competition. Mr. Chairman, this action when taken will sharpen the writing potential and research prowess of students, and prepare us into the academic limelight.

Fellow Students, Noble ladies and Gentlemen, are we proud as students in a degree awarding institution when we constantly have to resort to using the flashlight on our mobile phones to study anytime there is an erratic electricity supply at the expense of academic work in the night? This is precarious and does not befit our status as an institution. Notably, AKATSICO stands tall among other sister Colleges of Education. Who should emulate who? We have one plant in the school which we all know is highly obsolete and ineffectual for years due to lack of maintenance culture. Under my stewardship as General Secretary, I would therefore in collaboration with my President and the other Executives ensure we bring in an expert to examine the degree of damage of the existing one to prove if its worn-out part can be retrofitted for new ones for changeover to be done to power our lecture rooms. If it cannot be repaired, a motion will be tabled for the procurement of a new plant. Even amidst of erratic electricity supply, we ought to upscale academic work. The power plant must function.

Ladies and gentlemen, lectures, to great extent are affected due to the deficit in furniture. The tables outnumber the chairs in our lecture rooms. Students have to always wander around in search of chairs in other lecture rooms, and moving it to where they have lectures to the allotment of lecture periods. I learnt it is the sole responsibility of the government to supply furniture to colleges, but as we expect from government, how do we remedy the situation in our own small way? If you allow me the opportunity to be your humble servant, I will in conjunction with my president and other executives set in motion the process of writing proposals to benevolent societies, freehearted individuals to seek guardianship and financial support as we await the government’s involvement.

I would therefore, with your unflinching support champion this noble course of action for the benefit of us all.

Chairperson, I would not stand here and give an avalanche of unrealistic promises because I believe in ACTION, DIALOGUE, PURPOSEFULNESS, DEDICATION, AND ATTAINMENT OF RESULTS. I have the conviction that if you repose your confidence in me as SECRETARY, you would see AKATSICO propelled to greater heights by the GRACE of God. Dear colleagues, come Thursday 18th September, 2022, JUST VOTE TAY-AKWADA EMMANUEL ON THE BALLOT SCREEN AS THE NEXT GENERAL SECRETARY FOR AKATSICO SRC

I conclude my manifesto by saying that if you spend on what you do not need, you will soon be in need. In your innocent hearts the pride of AKATSICO is enshrined.

Since not a single one of us is an island to itself, that everyone of us holds a piece of what is required to make mother AKATSICO a better place, the team still remains Team Akwada, #Better_Together!

God bless you!

God bless AKATSICO SRC!

God bless Akatsi College of Education!

Thank you!
