MANIFESTO DELIVERED BY AGBEWORVI GIDEON ON THE 2ND DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2022 AT AKATSI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, LETSA-KORBA HALL AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE SRC FINANCIAL SECRETARY FOR THE 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR.
The Chairman, The Students’ Affairs Tutor, Members of the Electoral Commission, Senior Staffs present, outgoing Executives, fellow aspirants, colleagues student teachers, ladies and gentlemen. All other protocols duly observed. Good evening.
Mr. Chairman, my name is Agbeworvi Gideon a level 200 student of Akatsi College of Education offering Mathematics and ICT vying for the office of the SRC Financial Secretary for the 2022/2023 academic year.
It is well acknowledging the good works of the outgoing SRC Executives. Mr. Chairman, my predecessors have worked hard and chalked numerous successes for the school undeniably. However, since the position changes hands every year, the mantle is past onto another year group for which reason I stand for the office of the SRC FINANCIAL SECRETARY of this noble college.
Mr. Chairman, and all protocols observed, to better appreciate, collect, manage and disburse all funds on behalf of the SRC, the SRC Financial Secretary should not only be limited to the provision of the SRC Constitution regarding finances. I believe that all financial records and statements should be benchmarked with international accounting standards for Accounting and auditing. With my knowledge as a student of Institute of Chartered Accountant, Ghana (ICAG), my experiences in teaching Business related subjects for eight (8) years and working with companies as a financial coordinator gives me the urge to be an effective SRC Financial Secretary when given the mandate.
You can all agree with me that the responsibility of the Financial Secretary goes beyond keeping financial records and producing receipts to all expenditures of the SRC. For that matter, I humbly implore you all to VOTE FOR GIDEON AGBEWORVI, to reconstitute the financial issues as far as the SRC is concerned. Mr. Chairman, all other protocols duly observed, when voted to power, myself in agreement with the SRC Executive Council will;
Revamp program and projects committees to look into activities that fall within the remits of the SRC for which SRC funds will be committed.
Establish an audit committee in accordance with best accounting practice to audit all transactions.
Look at alternative sources of funding SRC projects into completion.
Revive the SRC welfare fund system to address critical ailments among the members at an agreed term between the SRC and the student body.
In conclusion, Mr. Chairman, permit me to quote a famous US millionaire Warren Buffet. He said “In looking for people to hire, look for three qualities: INTEGRITY, INTELLIGENCE AND ENERGY. And if they don’t have the first, the other two will kill you.”
It is based on this that I coined my motto: INTEGRITY, VALUE FOR MONEY AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
My brothers and sisters, all these and many more we will achieve when you give me the mandate.
