MANIFESTO PRESENTED BY AKPABLI DELA KWASI JNR. FOR SRC GENERAL SECRETARY AT THE LETSA KORBA HALL ON THE 2ND SEPTEMBER, 2022.
The Chairperson, Distinguished Personalities,Teachers present, Fellow aspirants, Fellow Students, Ladies and Gentlemen, all protocols duly observed. Akpabli Dela Kwasi Jnr. is my name. A level 200 student reading Agriculture and Home Economics and an affiliate to the noble Ahiable hall.
I deem it a great honor and privilege to stand in front of you people this evening to share my manifesto as a candidate vying for the office of the SRC general Secretary as I solicit your support. I cannot do this without the student populace behind me.
The chairperson, it is a common knowledge that the position of a Secretary in any active and progressive institution like ours is a sensitive and unique one. Thus, it requires the expertise of an individual with good written and oral communication skills, positive human relationship, computer literacy and above all, a commitment to the attainment of institutional goals. This position also involves supporting and representing the student body during meetings and gatherings and as such, it needs a person who is skillful and experienced to occupy the position. I strongly believe that with my experience and skills acquired as the acting Ahiable hall Secretary for the past months and the leadership skills learnt throughout my life’s journey, I am fit to be elected as the General Secretary for the Students Representative Council. My priority is to make good use of the office of the General Secretary in order to build a vibrant and unified student body by bringing on initiatives that will help the entire student community and institution as a whole. My policies aim at coordination, organization and dissemination of information to effectively and efficiently work towards my vision.
The chairperson, when voted into power, I intend to organize polls on new policies that are to be implemented. Everyone here can attest to the fact that one of the major reasons why there is failure in government is the bridge in communication between the leaders and the followers and also the inability of the governing body to give opportunity to their followers to be part of decision making, it is on this note that I , AKPABLI DELA KWASI JNR. intend to generate an open and closer relationship with every student by making the council more student friendly. This polls will be conducted with the use of platforms like telegram or other polling apps and this, will enable the council to take the students decision into consideration when implementing new policies. This will be achieved through teamwork with my executives.
Mr.Chairman, it is widely known in this institution that the L100s and L200s usually have their results printed on paper in the last 2 years. The current administration led by Hon. Dotse Kekeli and his hardworking executives are vigorously doing their best for us to access our results online and I congratulate them for doing so, but it rather unfortunate that till now we still cannot access our results online. As the General Secretary, I will liaise with my incoming SRC president and co-executive members to negotiate with the administration to make sure that we continue this good endeavor in order to make this portal issue become a reality for the student body..
Fellow students, “The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas”.Linus Pauling. If I am voted into power, I will make sure that our ideas and suggestions are heeded to by introducing the use of suggestion boxes. These suggestion boxes will allow students to express their opinions without feeling like they will be judged or questioned. This boxes can be set up in the classroom or other parts of the school environment where students can anonymously share their questions, concerns or any suggestions they have with the SRC. Everyone’s feedback is really important, and the suggestion box could spark new ideas which are crucial to a healthy school environment. By having a suggestion box, the SRC in collaboration with the school administration will be able to address issues or concerns that they would not have been aware of, some of which may even be serious. This way, everyone can stay more connected. This initiative will be achieved with the help of my other executives.
The chairperson, student ID is among one of the most essential assets that a student can have but is rather unfortunate that the current L100s, 200s and even some of the L300s do not have a student identity card. The importance of a student ID card goes beyond identifying an individual to be a student of the college. The ID cards can be the most important asset for every student, in a sense that the ID cards can be used to get access to books from the school library, or they can be used to acquire items from the store. Linking student ID cards with the systems that our Institution already has in place will improve the overall operations for both students and staff. To make this possible, I will liaise with my co executives to petition to the administration on such matter.
The chairperson, fellow students, last but not least, it has been a long time since our noble institution has celebrated SRC week. The SRC WEEK CELEBRATION as we know, is strategically organized to bring the entire student body together as one and create a sense of belongingness to the College community as we embark on various educative and entertaining programmes. If I am voted for, I will make sure that my other executives and I, liaise with the administration so that such an event will be made possible. Talking about entertaining programs, the organizing Secretary and I, with the help of the other executives and the entertainment community (ENTERCOM) will make sure that programs such as movie nights, talent or drama shows and field trips will be organized for the student body from time to time..
The chairperson , teachers present , fellow students, ladies and gentlemen, all protocols duly observed, I will end by saying that, these great visions and goals cannot be achieved without your support, prayers, and vote, therefore I humbly encourage every student to vote AKPABLI DELA KWASI JNR. as the SRC General Secretary for 2022/2023 academic Year.
