A MANIFESTO DELIVERED BY MASTER BERNARD EDEM KOMLA ADOM ON SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2022 IN THE LETSA KORBA HALL, A CANDIDATE FOR TREASURER OF THE STUDENTS' REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (SRC) FOR THE 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR.
Mr. Chairman, The Students’ Affairs Tutor, The Electoral Commission, Tutors present, outgoing SRC Executives, colleague candidates, Student teachers of this noble institution, all protocols duly observed, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good evening.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen, I would be ungrateful if I fail to acknowledge the contributions of the outgoing SRC Executives towards the development of the SRC. God bless them for their hardwork of uplifting the image of Akatsi College of Education, SRC amidst the ups and downs.
Mr. Chairman, Donald H. McGannon once said “Leadership is not position but Action”. Having served as the financial secretary for EPSU at Peki Senior High School, I confidently will testify on my ability to work with financial accounts which solely involved cash flow as well soliciting for fund where needed.
I am Bernard Edem Komla Adom, a hardworking and dedicated second year Visual Art student, vying for the enviable office of Treasurer of the SRC of this noble institution. I am a young man who is dedicated to task and also a good team worker.
Ladies and gentlemen, for the position of the SRC Treasurer, we need competent, devoted and energetic person to be at post. Due to that I humbly present myself to you as a verified and trusted candidate for the betterment of the Student Representative Council.
To start with, when given the mandate to serve as the treasurer of this noble institution, I will work in hand with the executive elected especially the Financial Secretary to revive SRC Welfare Fund which will go a long way to curb some alarming cost when the need arise among the student body. Students as we are need to be under this welfare system to help us in diverse ways of life.
Fellow students, when given the mandate to serve as the treasurer, I will devote myself to task and raise the stipulated work of the treasurer which is to be responsible for banking funds related to the secretariat to a level of inter-relational development plan. When given the power as the treasurer, I will work in hand with the elected executives to bring on board treasurers from the various halls of residence for easy revival of the welfare system in the school.
Ladies and gentlemen, for transparent and accountable budgeting, I will work in hand with the financial secretary to create a more flexible environment where the in and out of financial transactions is always made known to the student body as they share ideas on how, why and when to implement all stated plans.
Mr. Chairman, with the pre-exquisite skills in me, I have a high knowledge in lobbying for funds from notable companies and individuals and that will help me to assist the SRC in hand with other executives to generate other forms of finance where the need arise for a project or task to be performed. I am armed to the teeth and ready to deliver on this particular promise when given the mandate.
Mr. Chairman, I am really passionate about record keeping and the society in which we live in, that is the School. I would like to contribute all I can to carry on, giving the great service we have had. The treasurer plays a vital role and I would be dedicated to giving my very best. I will ensure a strong cohesion between myself and the financial secretary in all documents to prevent any blindside where there would not be any form of withdrawal by any individual or individuals in the name of superiority.
In my term of office, I would seek to find solutions to problems voiced by you – in every sphere. We might not be able to change the system over night, but I will at least strive to influence the system towards satisfying student needs.
