Abraham Acheampong, a Ghanaian living in South Africa, has revealed that his wife threatened to commit suicide if he did not travel abroad after his unpleasant stay in Asia.
Mr Acheampong stated in an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa that he decided to return home after his ordeal in Thailand and Malaysia. But his wife threatened to poison herself because she couldn't bear the humiliation.
Coming home empty-handed to settle would be a disgrace, according to his wife. As a result, Abraham arrived in Ghana but did not return to his family.
"Because I was too shy to go home, I stayed with a friend in Techiman for a while." I called my wife to tell her I was in Ghana and would be home soon, but she threatened to kill herself if I came.
So my in-laws advised me to stay and that they would assist me in finding another country to relocate to. "I stayed for six months and hired another 'connection man' to South Africa," he explained.
When asked about his time abroad, Abraham revealed that he was let down by a travel agent. Me Acheampong mentioned that he was on his way to Thailand but had to stop in Malaysia to obtain a visa. According to him, West Africans were denied entry into Thailand because they suspected that many were drug dealers.
“The denial was for Nigerians only, but some Nigerians used Ghanaian passports, so we were also denied entry. Many of them use Ghanaian passports. They are ruining Ghana’s image there.
I decided to return to Malaysia, but I didn't have any money and couldn't make international calls from Myanmar to Ghana. I spent two weeks sleeping at the Myanmar airport while waiting for money to buy a ticket to Malaysia. "I had to change the date on the flight ticket in order to get a visa," Mr Acheampong explained on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
Abraham mentioned that there were very few jobs available for foreign nationals in Malaysia. Some Ghanaians had been there for over two decades without finding suitable employment. As a result, he decided to return to Ghana.
