Young attacker Nico Williams spoke to the media after producing an amazing display to help Athletic Bilbao return to winning ways in La Liga by thrashing Elche 4-0.
The Spanish-born Ghanaian winger was one of Athletic Bilbao’s best players in the convincing win away from home. He netted and won a penalty as they won to move up to fourth position.
“It really means a lot to me with so many people who came to see us. We are happy with the (3) three points,” Nico Williams told La Liga TV.
The fast winger earned a penalty at 0-2 and minutes later, netted a cracking goal. He dribbled past a rival defender and then went inside and his left-footed shot went through the entire corner of the goal defended by Edgar Bada.
“They always tell me to make that play, to go inside to cause something. Today the gaffer told me to do it and it came out perfectly", Nico told LaLiga TV.
"The mist important thing is the three points and the joy we have given to the fans who have travelled. It has been a very great moment and we must always play like this away from home," he did add
Senior brother Inaki Williams was also in action, continuing his incredible run in the La Liga. The Ghanaian striker has now made a record-extending 237 consecutive appearances in the Spanish league.
Nico Williams unlike Inaki has stated that he is not yet ready to decide whether to play for Spain or the black stars.
He wants more of time to decide on his international future, which is really likely to be Ghana.
