The chief has prohibited school dropouts from using the community's astroturf.
Osagyefo Kwamena Akonu X, the paramount chief of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Council in the Central Region, has prohibited children from playing in the community's astroturf park who have dropped out of school.
Speaking at the commissioning of Enyan Abaasa Astroturf, the Chief, who also serves as Vice President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, stated that no child under the age of 12 who is not in school will be allowed to play on Astroturf as part of their punishment.
He stated that the Enyan Abaasa Community is overjoyed to have an Astroturf park because it is the first in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.
Osagyefo Kwamena Akonu X praised the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation foundation for constructing the community's modern Astroturf.
He advised children in the Enyan Abaasa community to take advantage of the astroturf, which will help them discover and develop their talent.
"This astroturf will help the School Children use their talents effectively instead of wasting their time on useless things like smoking weed, drinking alcohol, and doing unscrupulous things that will not benefit them," he added.
The Chief also stated that the Enyan Abaasa Community has plenty of land for Durbar grounds.
He then petitioned the GNPC foundation, Non-Governmental Organizations, Private Individuals, Philanthropists, and private individuals to assist the Enyan Abaasa Community in obtaining durbar grounds.
Hon. Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Chief Executive Hon. On his part, Emmanuel Ransford Kwesi Nyarko assured the good people of Enyan Abaasa and the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District that he will do his best to develop the communities in the district to an appreciable level before leaving office.
Communities in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam district, he believes, deserve astroturf as well.
Mr. Dominic Eduah, Chief Executive Officer of the GNPC Foundation, advised the people of Enyan Abaasa to make good use of the Astroturf. In order for the project to last, it must also adopt a good maintenance culture.
He said, over 3.5 million Ghana Cedis is required to construct the astroturf which is expected to last over twenty years.
