Dutch-born Ghanaian youngster Jeremie Frimpong was the hero for Bayer Leverkusen when they beat Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old youngster was the game changer after coming on as a substitute to assist both goals as Leverkusen claimed a 2-0 victory at the BayArena.

Jeremie Frimpong was brought on in the second half after replacing Czech Republic forward Adam Hlozek in the 69th minute.

The former Manchester City football club player created the first goal after setting up German midfielder Robert Andrich whose first-time effort gave the hosts the lead in the 84th minute.

Later, Jeremie Frimpong was the provider again after his defence-splitting pass found winger Moussa Diaby to slot home the second goal for Leverkusen.

England-born Ghanaian attacker  Callum Hudson-Odoi lasted 90 minutes in the game for the German side before making way for Nadiem Amiri.

Jeremie Frimpong was named man of the match after his instant impact after coming on as a substitute gave Leverkusen a crucial victory over Atletico Madrid.

Ghana midfield attacker Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has ended Germany star Florian Neuhaus World Cup dreams following a collision in the game between Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach over the weekend.

Kofi Kyereh unintentionally injured the midfielder forcing Neuhaus out after just 31 minutes. The Ghanaian international was making his first appearance of the season.

Florian Neuhaus  wanted to continue the game but due to the pain, he was substituted and rushed for treatment. He was later returned in clutches.

It was later revealed that, the German midfielder had suffered a cruciate ligament injury and will be out for a couple of months, ruling him out of the Qatar World Cup.

"It looks like Florian  may have suffered a cruciate ligament injury. Hopefully he will be lucky and the official diagnosis is something less serious,"  Said Borussia Monchengladbach on Twitter.

Florian  suffered a partial rupture of the posterior cruciate ligament injury during the Freiburg and Monchengladbach game bundesliga game. Surgery is not being required but the pair will be out for the foreseeable. Get well ? soon," added the club in a tweet.

The setback brings memories of when Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng injured Michael Ballack before the 2010 World Cup.
