PERFORMANCE OF GHANAIAN PLAYERS IN THE UEFA CHAMPIONS, EUROPA, AND CONFERENCE LEAGUES

The UEFA club competitions resumed last week with a diverse range of matches played across Europe, and Match Day 2 will continue this week with matches from the Champion League, Europa League, and Conference League.

This article will provide you with information on the performance of Ghanaian players in all of these competitions, as well as assess the performance of players who have been called up to the Black Stars squad and keep track of their performance in their respective clubs.


On Tuesday, in the Champions League match between Liverpool and Ajax in the Group A encounter, Ghanaian Starboy Mohammed Kudus played 86’ for Ajax in their 1-2 defeat against the Reds. He scored the consolation goal for Ajax. Kudus has scored 5 goals in his last 4 Ajax games.

Kamal Sowah was also on the score sheet as Club Brugge thrashed FC Porto 4-0, the playmaker playing at the full throttle of the game. Black Stars right back Denis Odoi played the full 90 minutes for Club Brugge and was yellow carded in the game.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jeremie Frimpong both featured for Bayer Leverkusen as they defeated Atletico Madrid on Matchday Two of their group B encounter. Ghanaian youngster Abdul Issahaku was an unused substitute in Sporting Lisbon's 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs.

In the Europa League today, Kamaldeen Sulemana of Rennes played 64 minutes in their draw against Turkish side Fenerbahce in a Group B fixture.

Real Betis at home at the Estadio Benito Vallamarin defeated Bernard Tekpetey of Ludogorets Razgrad in a 5-goal thriller (3-2). The Ghanaian was substituted in the 69th minute. Ghana forward Abdul Malik Abubakari and his Finnish club HJF Helsinki lost against Jose Mourinho's Roma 3-0 away at the Stadio Olimpico in the Group C fixtures.

In the Group D fixture at the King Power at Den Dreef, Emmanuel Lomotey was unused substituted in Malmo FC defeat against Union St. Gilloise.


In Group F, former Kumasi Asante Kotoko came up in the 81st minute against Manchester United. His compatriot Patrick Kpozo played the full throttle of the game.Razak Abalora was not in the squad at all

At the Karaiskakis stadium in Greece, Ghanaian midfield sensation Daniel-Kofi Kyereh provided an assist in the 3-0 away victory over Olympiacos. This is Daniel's second start of the season since he joined Freiburg.


Black Star Striker Kwabena Owusu was on the score sheet as Qarabag FK beat Nante 3-0. Osman Bukari played 70 minutes in the 2-1 defeat to Trabzonspor, his countryman Ibrahim Mustapha coming on as a substitute.

Alfred Duncan, Majeed Ashimeru, Eugene Ansah, Elisha Owusu, and Kasim Adams all play in the Europa Conference league matchday two today.
