On Sunday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will face RC Kadiogo of Burkina Faso in the second leg of their preliminary round matchup at the Baba Yara Stadium.

At the General Kerekou Stadium in Cotonou, the Ghana Premier League champions defeated Kadiogo in the first leg by a score of 1-0 thanks to a goal from teenager Isaac Oppong.

For the first time since 2006, Kotoko hopes to participate in the Champions League group stage.

Seydou Zerbo, the team's head coach, and Richard Boadu, the team's new captain, both forecast a difficult match despite winning the first leg at a press conference on Friday in Kumasi.

I am extremely familiar with Kadiogo's attacking style of play, but we must maintain concentration for the full 90 minutes, according to coach Zerbo.

You'll simply have to come on Sunday to see how we play since this is a press conference and I won't sit here and explain the system we'll use.

The game on Sunday is crucial for everyone involved, and while we are prepared for it, we are aware that it won't be simple, Boadu added.

"We have all read about history, but now is our chance to write our own chapter in human history. As players, our first goal is to advance to the group stage. The coach has been excellent, and he connects with us well."

After being excluded from the first leg, Asante Kotoko attacker Franck Etuoga Mbella will also be excluded from the second match.

At 15:00 GMT, the game is scheduled to begin.

In the next round of the competition, the victor of the two-legged tie will play the winner of the match between Gaborone United Sporting Club and AS Vita Club of the DR Congo.

When Kotoko defeated Al Ahly in 1983, it became the last team to win the CAF Champions League.
