MASSIVE AKUFO-ADDO INVESTMENTS IN THE EASTERN REGION, ACCORDING TO A MINISTER

The Akufo-Addo administration, according to the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong, has made considerable expenditures in his region, particularly in the areas of roads and education.

The Minister stated that the Eastern Region is experiencing tremendous investment in educational infrastructure under the current administration, far more so than it did under the previous administration, when he spoke at the Minister's Press Briefing, a regular media engagement platform organized by the Ministry of Information in Accra on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

 This, according to him, includes the cutting-edge STEM school at Abomosu (Atiwa West), the TVET center at Akyem Anyinam, the vocational institute at Kitase-Akuapem, Phase I of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, a two-story building with a 12-unit classroom block at Manya Krobo SHS, a 12-unit classroom block at Abuakwa State College in Kyebi, a 2-story building housing boys'

Health

In the area of health, the Minister stated that various development projects in the sector were started and are progressing steadily, with some being completed and others still under construction. This is in line with the government's vision to create and expand access to health services and enhance the quality of health service delivery in the region.

The Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital renovation, among others, the completion of the Aburi Hospital, the building of the Eastern Regional Hospital, the completion of the Somanya District Hospital, the modernization of the Kibi District Hospital, and the construction of the 40-bed Maternity Hospital at Enyiresi.


Roads

Regarding roads, the Regional Minister stated that the region has greatly benefited over the previous six years from the much-heralded Year of Roads initiative.

We have a 7,147-kilometer-long network of roadways in total. Out of the total length of the road network, we have so far awarded for construction 5,404 km and finished 1,487 km. The three entities that fall under the road sector make up this, he said.

According to him, the current administration has significantly improved the region's road infrastructure, surpassing the number of kilometers of roads built there during the previous John Dramani Mahama administration.

He listed a number of other road projects, including those from Mangoase to Kukua to Akorabo to Amanhyia, Kwahu Tafo to Ankama to Miaso, Nkatekwan Junction to Obuotumpan, Nkawkaw to Domeabra to Buaben, Suhum to Nankese, Ayirebi to Asabidia, and Akropong to Larbikrom.
