Varane was acquired by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the summer 2021 transfer window following a successful tenure at Real Madrid. But his performances suffered from injuries during his first few months at United under Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
Varane, though, has developed into the Reds' rock at the back since Erik ten Hag's hiring. The 29-year-old has demonstrated the kind of talent that was anticipated when he moved from Madrid, along with Lisandro Martinez.
Rio Mavuba, a defensive midfielder for France with 13 appearances, has now lauded his compatriot for performing at his peak level at Old Trafford. According to Mavuba, who spoke to L'Equipe, "He is the boss, the big brother of this [France] squad and he is especially crucial in the absence of some prominent players."
"It demonstrates his importance after a trying year. He spent a considerable amount of time with Real Madrid before being transferred to Manchester United and experiencing some minor issues.
