Final-year students at UEW protest alleged failure to update their GPA.
On Friday, September 23, 2022, final-year students at the University of Education, Winneba, protested the university's alleged failure to update their cumulative record.
The students accused the university administration of purposefully failing to update the specific records for the previous three years.
According to citinewroom.com, the students blamed the school's data protection unit for failing to update the records on their portals, leaving the students' various portals empty.
The level 400 students, who are expected to graduate in less than a month, claim they are unable to track their academic performance due to the school's failure to upgrade their records.
It was previously reported that the Ghana Police Service used tear gas to disperse final-year students who were protesting.
After management failed to show up for their scheduled meeting over discrepancies in their results, the students blocked roads leading to the school in protest.
According to a Graphiconline report, after some time passed with no sign of the meeting, the students went on a rampage, breaking down signposts and blocking some roads on campus.
The police officers who were called in were unable to control the students and thus requested reinforcement.
As a result, teargas was used to disperse the students.

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three more Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) students accused of involvement in the clash between University Hall (Katanga) and Unity Hall students (Continental).
According to citinewroom.com, the three suspects were apprehended after the court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of over 60 people in connection with the clash.
According to the report, the suspects included Emmanuel Appiah Amoah, Eugene Nuamesi, and Kwabena Kwarteng.
The three were remanded into police custody by the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Hilda Esther Wryter, and are scheduled to appear in court on October 4, 2022.
The judge directed the police to provide the students with the necessary assistance so that they could continue writing their exams.
When the warrant was issued in August, nine students were arrested.
Background
On August 15, 2022, the university made headlines once again after a series of rape allegations by students when students from the University Hall (Katanga) and Unity Hall (Continental) clashed.
At least 11 students were injured as a result of the clash, and property, including 11 vehicles, was vandalized.
According to a student at the university who spoke to GhanaWeb on the condition of anonymity, residents of Katanga Hall attacked Conti students while they were on a procession.
As a result of the clash, the university's administration suspended the Junior Common Room (JCR) System of hall management by students in all university halls beginning with the 2023/2024 academic year.
This means that the Hall Masters and the Hall Council of the various halls will take over the day-to-day management of the halls, which was previously done by elected student leaders in all of KNUST's halls.
