The opposition National Democratic Congress was behind some attendees of the Global Citizen Festival "booing" President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, according to Deputy Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Jennifer Queen (NDC).
She claimed that they did this expressly to diminish the appeal and advantages of the world event that was taking place in Accra's Black Star Square.
She revealed on Okay FM's "Ade Akye Abia" program that the NDC had decided to ruin the lovely event and bring shame upon the government despite knowing the grandeur, all the advantages, and the international exposure it had brought to the nation.She claimed they orchestrated this to overshadow the beauty of the presentation because they were the first group of people to start distributing the video, according to information acquired by our National Communication Directorate.
She claimed that the NDC preferred to organize some rude people to disrespect the President in order to win easy political points.
"The purpose of the event was to promote the nation internationally. Therefore, it speaks very poorly of you if you decide to edit out portions of some movies or encourage people to boo the President, who is our leader. ""Some individuals seek to portray themselves as the epitome of knowledge and wise behavior," she said angrily.
"Look, in today's society, this is the standard. If a minister or other government representative attends a public event, you'll encounter some impolite people who wander outside to boo them. "Even though we want to give the government the impression that it is unpopular, it doesn't speak well of Ghanaians," she continued.
Numerous local and foreign artists performed during the Global Citizen Festival, which drew thousands of spectators to Black Star Square.
When President Akufo-Addo was about to speak, some of the audience started clapping and screaming "away, away."
The incident sparked a number of responses on social media, with some detractors claiming it was a reflection of angry Ghanaians voicing their opposition to the president and his government.
