JUSBAN Foundation will construct a mechanized borehole in Mallam-Nkwanta.
JUSBAN Foundation, a charitable organization, has cut sod for the construction of a mechanized borehole in the Denkyembuor Municipality of the Eastern Region's Malam-Nkwanta.
The borehole project is the result of months of requests from the people of Malam-Nkwanta for potable water.
The Queen mother of Malam-Nkwanta, Leticia Duvor, the Unit Committee Chairman of the Malam Nkwanta Assembly, Kwasi Kaba, and some opinion leaders attended the sod-cutting ceremony for the mechanized borehole, which took place on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
The mechanized borehole will be finished in three months and handed over to the community to ensure their access to water.
Justice Kofi Bansah, Chief Executive Officer of JUSBAN Foundation, stated that the borehole would be completed and operational within three months and that it was expected to help solve the community's water problem. According to him, their main goal is to ensure that most communities in Ghana have better drinking water.
He claims that they learned about the plight of the people of Malam Nkwanta two months ago and how difficult it was for them to obtain safe drinking water.
"...and JUSBAN Foundation resolved to come to their aid based on that plight and their appeal for help," he said.
In addition to the borehole project, he said his foundation was supporting some underserved schools in the community and conducting a health screening.
Mr. Bansah stated that the JUSBAN Foundation has provided these humanitarian services for the past five (5) years.
"We have done various borehole projects in the country, and our target is over 30 villages in the Eastern Region," he explained.
As a result, he urged other non-governmental and charitable organizations to assist impoverished communities across the country.
Leticia Duvor, the Queen mother of Malam Nkwanta, thanked the JUSBAN Foundation for the gesture, adding that when completed, the project will provide potable water to the people in her community.
She bemoaned that residents of Malam Nkwanta had been drinking from filthy water sources for several years, causing a slew of health problems.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to make another passionate appeal to other NGOs, corporate businesses, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to support us with facilities such as a health center, public places of convenience, and schools," she said.
Kwasi Kaba, Chairman of the Unit Committee, also thanked JUSBAN Foundation for the borehole project.
According to him, completing it will provide significant relief to the people of Malam Nkwanta.
He went on to say that life has been unbeatable for them because they have had to overcome numerous obstacles in accessing drinking water, which has been a major concern for them.
