Reports: Accra Hearts of Oak set to appoint former FC Utrecht and Netherlands player Erik Van der Meer. His profile, Teams coached, trophies and more
Ghana Premier League giants, Hearts of Oak have reportedly appointed Erik Van Der Meer from the Netherlands as their new Technical Director.
The former Budapest Honvéd FC coach was at the stadium on Sunday when the Rainbows played a 1-1 draw with Asante Kotoko.
The Phobians have had a torrid start to the 2022/23 season sharing spoils in two matches with one draw in the Ghana Premier League but they are keen about the title this season from Asante Kotoko; however, the hierarchy of the club is believed to have agreed to appoint the Deutsche international to beef up the technical department of the club led by Samuel Boadu.
Erik Van der was a professional defender for Netherland top tier league team, FC Utrecht scoring 9 goals in 205 appearances. He also featured for the Netherlands U21 team.
Eric holds a UEFA Pro License which means he is eligible to coach a team even in a UEFA champions league.
He has worked in 13 different teams in different roles – Team Manager, Academy Director, Assistant Manager and Director of football.
In 40 games as a Coach, he won 15, drew 10 and loss 15, scoring 59 goals and conceding 60.

The technical team also has Mohammed Obeng Hamza and Enoch Diatey currently as the assistants coaches to Samuel Boadu.
The 55-year-old professional coach is expected to lead the Phobians alongside Samuel Boadu for the CAF Confederations as they hope to eliminate Malian side ASR Bamako to reach the group stages of the competition.
Board of Directors led by Togbe Afede XIV are yet to confirm the news with strong believe that, Boadu needs a helping hand and an exceptional figure for the team but a close source has disclosed to Ghanasportspage.com about the appointment of the new technical director.
