The theory goes back centuries, when women had s£x with several partners, to increase their chances of getting pregnant.
centuries ago, experts believe that the p£nis has evolved into a " tool" , with a ridge to remove the semen of a rival.
Professor Gordon Gallup of the State University of New York led a team of scientists studying the anatomy of the human p£nis in 2003
The theory behind this is pretty simple- men basically want to be sure. make sure they are the ones to maintain their lineage and win the pregnancy.
They found that the thrust of the p£nis- and the ridge that separates the head from the shaft- can actually help clear a woman' s v@gina and the reproductive system of her previous lover' s semen.
This means that a new partner can eliminate any competition and replace it with one' s own sperm.
They tested their theory in the lab, with a rubber p£nis and a sample v@gina.
By mixing starch and water together, they have found that the ridge around the tip of a man' s p£nis can extract more than 90% of the " sperm" substitute, in a single push.
Professor Gallup explains: " We hypothesize that due to paternity competition, human males have evolved uniquely configured p£nises that move sperm out of the v@gina.
" Human penises may therefore allow males to substitute their sperm for their competitors' sperm.
He said they have found evidence that couples are more likely to have s£x if the wife is suspected of infidelity, or if a couple has broken up.
This may be due to a subconscious desire to remove all traces of another man' s sperm from his partner, he says. Professor Gallup' s colleague, Rebecca Burch, added: " A longer p£nis would not only be an advantage in bringing semen into the less accessible part of the v@gina, but by also filling and widening it.
